An organisation called "THRASS" offers an online facility, aimed primarily at the deaf learning to speak English.
However, there is a possibility that our twin towns may be able to use this as part of their language training. The following is an excerpt from their homepage which, if you are interested may be worth following up.:- CLICK ON SITEMAP FOR A GUIDED TOUR by "The THRASS Man" or click on Key Facts THRASS SING-A-LONG Resources FREE Phoneme Machine software FREE charts for English and other languages GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHING THRASS THRASS stands for Teaching Handwriting Reading And Spelling Skills. This 'Picture-Based Training' website is primarily for teachers, assistants and parents - it is also for speech therapists, psychologists and students of English. If this is your first visit, either click on SITEMAP for a guided tour by "The THRASS Man" and a list of all our webcards, or click on Key Facts to read about the main features of THRASS, the reasons for using it and what teachers, assistants and parents say about it. There are also links to Phonics 4 Parents (with details of our four-hour accredited course), our THRASS-Tips Email Course (FREE and in three-parts), our News Media Centre (for the latest media coverage) and our Audio Video Centre (for our videostreams and downloadable wmv and iPod files). At the bottom of every page is a link to Professional Development Courses, which includes dates, venues, evaluations and downloadable timetables and leaflets. Other useful links are RESOURCES (our most popular area - check out the Full List of Resources, especially the Phoneme Machine and the Calendar Charts), DCSF Criteria (DCSF was formerly DfES) for a 'THRASS scores 10 out of 10' high quality phonics programme and Email Me!
